Uncover the borough’s architectural gems
A series of special events exploring the best in contemporary architecture throughout St Edmundsbury has been arranged to mark national Architecture Week, which runs from 16 to 25 June. The Haverhill event is highlighted in red.
The programme of lecture, talks and tours, which is the first to take place in the borough, celebrates all aspects of the built environment. Ranging from an ‘architour’ of St Edmundsbury Cathedral and a lecture on the Cattle Market development to a closer look at the unique Haverhill townscape, there is something on offer for everyone.
The full programme of events is as follows:
17 June, 11am – St Edmundsbury Cathedral, 1957 to the present day
An ‘architour’ by the architects to the Millennium project
19 June, 6.30pm – The new Cattle Market development
A lecture by Jim Greaves, of Hopkins Architects Ltd
20 June, 7pm – Talking architecture
A talk by architect Anthony Hudson, known for ‘Baggy House’ in Devon
20 June, 7pm – Haverhill town walk
A tour looking at Haverhill’s unique 19th century townscape
21 June, 7pm – I’ll meet you in the square
A lecture by Ian Poole on streets and squares in historic towns and cities
