Turn up and play this summer holiday
If you’re looking for somewhere to take the children this summer holiday, why not let them burn off all that energy at free ‘turn up and play’ sessions taking place across the borough.
The sessions, funded by the Western Suffolk Crime and Disorder Partnership (CDRP), are for young people aged between 8-18 years old and involve having a go at a range of different sport and play activities. There will be something for everyone, from ball games and football to racing remote control cars. Each session will be staffed by members of the Western Suffolk CDRP and various partners, including St Edmundsbury Borough Council, the police, Abbeycroft Leisure, Community Education and Connextions.
All activities will take place outside, so please wear suitable clothing and take reasonable precautions if it’s hot, such as bringing a hat and a drink. Parents and guardians are welcome to come along and help out. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day!
Dates of sessions are as follows:
· Tuesday 2 August, 1-4pm – recreation ground. Stanton,
· Thursday 4 August, 10am-1pm – Chalkstone field, Haverhill
· Tuesday 9 August, 1-4pm – Puddlebrook, Clements estate, Haverhill
· Thursday 11 August, 1-4pm – Barrow green, behind village hall
· Tuesday 16 August , 10am-1pm – Moreton Hall Community Centre field, Bury St Edmunds
· Thursday 18 August, 1-4pm – Mildenhall estate green, near Lake Avenue, Bury St Edmunds
· Tuesday 23 August, 10am-1pm – Newt Pond, Castle Playing fields, Haverhill
· Thursday 25 August, 1-4pm - Kedington, Great Meadow, Haverhill
· Tuesday 30 August, 10am-1pm – Howard estate, back of playing fields on St Olaves Road, Bury St Edmunds
· Friday 2 September, 10am-1pm – Priors Estate, Jubilee House, Bury St Edmunds
