Call For Anti-Drinking By LawsI have been working with police and youth workers and environmental health officers to deal with the problems arising around the new skatepark in Howe Road. I have been talking to many residents in the area and it is clear that main problems are being caused by people gathering and misbehaving in the area in the evenings, this is causing annoyance to both the skateboarders and local residents. I feel that a by law prohibiting drinking will move the drinkers from the area and greatly reduce the problems there. An anti-drinking by law can be introduced where there is evidence that public drinking has become a problem, I feel that both the residents and the police will be able to provide evidence.I have agreed to go back to residents in one month to show what plans the authorities have for dealing with the problem. This is the main entrance to the estate, this behaviour cannot be allowed to continue, I need to make sure that all of the new laws designed to stop anti-social behaviour are looked at for this area.Gerry Kiernan

Dovehouse Road Planning LatestThe planning application, which the council turned down earlier in the year, has now been refused by the planning inspector. This means there is now no application on that site. Some work was then started on clearing the site. Council officers visited the site to advise on the Tree Protection Order, which protects trees across the whole site. The police also visited the site to advise on the Countryside and Wildlife Act, which protects the wildlife, and it’s habitat. Both these measures provide some protection for the site, it will be difficult to carry out work with heavy equipment. Thanks must go to local residents and Suffolk Wildlife Trust for quickly informing the authorities.Gerry Kiernanwww.cb9.co.uk
